After disconnecting power to the fridge, I first removed the ice maker/water dispenser/fridge control faceplate. This easily popped out using a flat head screw driver. Then disconnected the 3 wire harness connections to the control board. I next removed the plastic dispenser housing shield. There's only 4 screws that hold this on. My refrigerator is 13 yrs old and began to build up frost in the ice cube shoot and the water tube began to freeze up over night. The flapper door was not closing completely. 1.) Located where the water leak was coming from in the refrigerator. 2.) Unplugged the refrigerator. 3.) Shut off the water supply to the refrigerator. 4.) Unscrewed the back cardboard panel. 5.) Unscrewed the Water Valve attached to the side of the refrigerator (one screw). 6.) Disconnected the three electrical plugs on the water valve. It took longer to open the box than it did to install the new Ice Bucket. And delivery was really quick too, about 4 days from order to delivery...that is service defined. I went on line and read your advice page. Based on that, I removed the damper assembly (six screws counting the miserable light fixture) and found the damper door broken as predicted. I went back to your page and ordered the new part. Nice breakdown to get number.
