I did replace the controls for the knob - which I researched was likely the problem from the internet and youtube videos. The repair itself was very easy - did it all in 20 minutes. Another video recommended disconnecting each wire from old knob and then inserting it in new knob control. I thought this was a very good tip - while it was more logistically a pain - keeping the two knobs so close, not dangling on pulling on wires, etc.... I called my son in law. He unscrewed it and screwed the new one on. I couldn't believe how fast it got here. I ordered part in afternoon and it was here the next afternoon. and this was with regular shipping. Unbelievible.! ! ! Read more
I opened the dryer and found that the blower fan was full of lint. This apparently tripped out the Thermostat so I replaced the Thermo coupler and fuses. Unfortunately after I ordered the kit I found out that the kit comes with one of each of the fuses the two for gas dryer and one for an electric dryer. The gas Dryer required three fuses one with the red dot two with the yellow dots, so I had to order a second kit to get a yellow dot, so I decided to change the thermostat at the same time. All... When I pulled out the dryer from the wall, I could see dust/lint had accumulated everywhere and the vent system was compromised. I vacuumed up the dust/lint accumulation outside and then inside the vent system. I then opened the lower cabinet to clean and check its condition. I removed the water steamer bottle and its sub-assembly and then the drum.
