I replaced the water level switch and hose. After removing the hose, I found that it was clogged, and did not allow the water level to be sensed by the switch. The machine stopped working with a bang. There were chunks of large metal at the bottom. The drive plate had rusted through. My first step was to put a rag in the tub drain hole and save the pump. Except for grinding/chiseling off a frozen-corroded-rusty solid mass. The repair was rather easy. A couple of channel lock wrenches and a hammer didn't budge it. The video was very helpful. the hardest part is getting off old rusted parts. I had to use a hacksaw to remove one of the old clamps. I had to open the bottom of the washing machine to remove of the other clamp. Putting the new parts on was easy. Getting everything apart was a challenge. Removal of terminal blocks using lubrication on rusted screws and, if necessary, drill out technique. Unclip wires from edges of the tray on both sides without losing the clips for future re-use. Planning to spend hundreds on a new washer and was pleased to discover the agitator coupling was the only thing wrong. Very easy repair. The only additional feature we would have liked was a softener dispenser. Located a GE model of the same genre that used the same coupler and took the leap to get the agitator and dispenser cup for this model (WJRR4170).
