Here's the story. All my appliances except the dryer broke. Yeah. talk about bad luck. First I tried to fix the refrigerator. Replaced both motherboard and inverter board. Now it wakes up but the compressor does not kick in. Need another part. The washer, well I have to pull out the sink to get enough room to pull out the washer to fix it. Since the refriigerator is still in the middle of the kitchen, I don't need to tear apart another room. Nevertheless, let me say this, I love my "older"... Read more
Specs: No.8X1/2 HEX WASHER HEAD
Replaced the control board after removing the inner door liner, plastice board cover and board itself, by removing screws, working various plastic clips/tabs and unclipping wire harnesses from board. most of time was spent cleaning the black soot from the door, which had a terrible burnt electrical/plastic fire smell. Cleaned mold/scale off of as much of the door as I could while in there as well. Removing parts without breaking plastic tabs to hold the new parts was trickiest part. Read more

This was a very easy fix. Two screws to get the front off of the washer. Removed one side of the tensioner spring. Loosened two screws for the motor and two screws for the pump. I decided to replace the agitate belt even though it wasn't broken.. After watching the repair video I opened up the dryer without any problems and found that the belt tension pully bearing failed and the mount arm had an excessive amount play in it. So armed with the part numbers I found here I went down to the local parts store and found that they did not stock the parts but could get them in a week. I went home and ordered them on line and had them the next day. I did vary from the video a bit. I uncliped the motor wire connector and removed the two screws... Read more

I suspected the main bearing had worn out, and I was right. It is a difficult job, because I am retired, I had the time. During disassembly, I found the hub had rusted really bad, it needed replacement. I did not buy special tools. The manufacturer repair manual says to use three OEM tools, I made some tools with wood. Simon's video is a big help. Now the washer is quiet, time will tell how good a job I did. This is the first time I opened up a washer, the second time would be much easier. Read more
