This panel forms the floor of the oven, sitting above the bake element or burner to shield it from spills and provide a smooth, stable surface. Replace a warped or damaged panel to help maintain proper heating and easier cleanup. What it does:
The problem is a finicky ignition system, Direct Spark Ignition. Apparently Whirlpool redesigned the igniter/burner assembly slightly to make it more reliable. The repair is very easy. Turn off power, but you don't need to turn off gas. Remove oven bottom and flame spreader, then remove burner/igniter assembly, one screw at front, one at back. This is a small metal mounting clip used to secure the spark electrode (igniter) in place near a surface burner on a gas range. It holds the igniter at the correct position so the spark can reliably ignite the gas when the burner knob is turned. Replace this clip if the igniter is loose, misaligned, or has fallen out of position, causing unreliable burner ignition.

Mounts to the range frame to anchor the door hinge arm. Replace if cracked, bent, or worn to restore proper door alignment and smooth operation.
I knew for sure that the hinge with the large spring was damaged, but elected to replace both hinges and receivers. Replacing the parts was fairly easy and would have taken me less then an hour. This model has thin metal covers over the hinge assemblies. I found that squeezing in the sides of the covers help to hold them in place on the hinge while reassembling the door. This assembly includes the motorized latch mechanism and integrated switches that lock and unlock the oven door during the self-cleaning cycle. It secures the door shut when the oven reaches high temperatures and signals the control board when the door is properly latched. Replace this part if the oven door won't lock or unlock, the self-clean cycle won't start, or you receive a door lock error code.
I knew the door latch was suppose to lock for self clean and it wasn't, so I took the back off and after tracing out wires and the linkage to the door latch, determined that it was a faulty motor on the latch lock.
