I knew for sure that the hinge with the large spring was damaged, but elected to replace both hinges and receivers. Replacing the parts was fairly easy and would have taken me less then an hour. This model has thin metal covers over the hinge assemblies. I found that squeezing in the sides of the covers help to hold them in place on the hinge while reassembling the door. The problem is a finicky ignition system, Direct Spark Ignition. Apparently Whirlpool redesigned the igniter/burner assembly slightly to make it more reliable. The repair is very easy. Turn off power, but you don't need to turn off gas. Remove oven bottom and flame spreader, then remove burner/igniter assembly, one screw at front, one at back. • Door won't open after self cleaning cycle

I knew the door latch was suppose to lock for self clean and it wasn't, so I took the back off and after tracing out wires and the linkage to the door latch, determined that it was a faulty motor on the latch lock. The hardest part of this repair was a) realizing that the easiest way to clean the oven door pieces is to remove the whole door and b) figuring out how to put the oven door back on. Doing (b) is infinitely easier if you stick two allen wrenches into the holes in the door hinge, but these holes ONLY appear when the door is fully open. I searched on your website for a replacement stem. Unfortunately the stem is not sold separately. I purchased the entire valve after confirming with your online rep that I was ordering the correct part. I received the valve in 2 days removed the stem and inserted it directly into the existing burner valve. Perfect fit easy installation and burner works as it should. Simply repair and I probably saved $100 by not calling a repair tech to come to my home. Read more

We found a video on how to change out the glass and looked fairly easy. My husband, being the skeptic that he is, wasn't on board as readily as I was but we tried it regardless.
