Freezer not cooling or making buzzing noise? The evaporator fan blade circulates cold air. Easy DIY fix in under 5 minutes—simply pull off and press on.
I used a set of ring pliers to remove the old retaining ring, then spread the plastic ribs around the fan motor shaft with a small flat bladed screwdriver to ease removal of the old fan blade. I reversed the process to replace the blade, gently tapping a socket from my socket wrench set placed over the motor shaft and ribs with a small rubber mallet. Rubber grommet seals the ice maker fill tube where it enters the refrigerator cabinet. Replace if cracked, brittle, leaking, or missing to restore seal.
Replaced original (18 yrs.) 1/4" plastic tubing, clamp and grommet (AppliancePartsPros/GE parts) from outlet of ice maker water control valve to ice maker inlet. I ordered a new solenoid and when it arrived, I installed it as follows: I cut the power to the refrigerator. I then pulled off the rubber boot (and it's plastic frame) that covers the water switch. Then I removed the bezel that covers the front of the ice maker controls by pulling it straight out. Then I removed the four screws found on the assembly under the bezel. This is a grommet and it is intended for use on refrigerators and freezers. This is a genuine replacement part made by General Electric. A new grommet might be needed if the current one is visibly worn out or damaged in any way. If there are noises from vibration coming from the lower back area of the fridge there might be need for a new grommet.
