Fix leaking water or a non-working ice maker with this refrigerator water inlet valve. Moderate DIY repair in 30-45 minutes with basic tools.
First, I had to remove the cover plate on the back of the refrigerator. Then I unscrewed the water inlet valve from the rest of the assembly. I then unplugged the electrical contacts by pulling them apart. There are two fittings on the valve. One has a nut on it. That one just needs the nut unscrewed, after which the pex tubing can be pulled out. The other one has a pex connection. This one can be separated by simultaneously pushing in on the fitting neck while pulling the pex tubing out. On... Read more

The auger gearbox shaft had a spot that was stripped of threads which prevented the auger drive from spinning the ice down the chute. I replaced the auger motor/gearbox assembly, the auger drive as it had to be cut off the shaft, and the 3 mount bolts that hold it all in place. Whole job took 30 minutes from start to finish which included cutting off the drive bracket. Read more

I ordered a replacement auger from AppliancePartsPros.com. Upon receipt of the new auger, I watched the repair video and took the ice crusher apart. I found several other parts that needed to be replaced as well. Once All the parts were received, I again watched the video. Hired a repair professional. This is an expensive fridge so I wanted to repair rather than replace. The estimated cost for the repair was quite high, but at least it was itemized. I went on-line and found Appliance Parts Pros, and bought the major plus one minor part from them. I arranged with my local repair guy to use the parts I bought on-line. RESULT: I saved $370 by buying my own parts, probably could have saved more with a little more effort. Appliance Parts Pros was easy to deal with,... Read more
Ice crusher not working or slow crushed ice production? This helix front feeds ice to crushing blades. Moderate DIY repair—replace with auger for best results.
This was a very easy repair, the on-line video at AppliancePartsPros.com was helpful. The Helix was spinning freely (meaning, the Auger Blade was not holding it in place on the Auger). Pulling the assembly apart was a snap, and very logical (the video is perfect if you get lost). The family is now enjoying both crushed and cubed ice - and the redesign of the Auger Blade seems to prevent clogging in the ice shoot. Read more
This is a screw intended for use in refrigerators, specifically as the top mounting screw for the handle. Remove the old screw if there is one in place. Line up the holes on the door and the door handle component before twisting the new screw into position. Wear gloves to protect hands during the repair. This screw is a genuine OEM replacement part. It is sourced directly from the manufacturer. The screw is sold individually. The screw is compatible with several different models of refrigerators. It can be installed in ranges made by Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Westinghouse, and Kelvinator.
This was a very easy repair. I watched the video from Appliance Parts Pro and then followed the same steps. I took my time and the only issue was that I had to flip the handles from the first installation so that the trim would fit better. The replacements look like they should be able to go either way, but they were definitely directional. Read more
