This is a metal hinge support plate that reinforces the door hinge area on a dryer, helping to secure the hinge to the front panel or door. It distributes the stress of repeated door openings across a wider area to prevent damage. I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. This assembly includes the housing and door that enclose the lint screen filter compartment on the top or front of the dryer. It provides access to the lint filter for cleaning and keeps the filter securely in place during operation. Replace this part if the door is cracked, broken, won't stay closed, or if the housing is damaged and no longer holds the lint screen properly.
Open dryer door. Remove four Phillip head screws that hold lint assembly together. Two inside and two on the outside. There is also a hex head screw behind the front panel. To get at it I removed the four hex heads at bottom of front panel and four star head screws on left side of front panel. I was able to get at it by pulling the front panel out as much as possible and and reaching from the side with small quarter inch socket.
