After researching the problem on this site, I realized that the most likely cause was a bad bearing contained in the shaft & tube assembly. Essentially, the tub seal failed & allowed water to travel down the shaft & into the housing containing the bearing. OMG.. I was so excited when I found a simple YOUTUBE video showing me how to fix this agitator myself.. and it was SO SIMPLE! The MEN I know, told me I would need to buy a new machine! I had never worked on a washing machine before but after watching the online videos I felt like I could do the repair. I was almost positive it was the Mode Shifter and Shaft Assembly that was bad. I could hear the bearing making a grinding noise when I turned the tub by hand. I ordered a new pump on this website. They provided me with written directions as well as a video to follow along with on how to change the pump. As always it wasn't as easy as the video, but that was the mechanic no the tool! Great job on the service. Will order parts from here again. Read more

Ordered new transmission, nut, split washer and spanner wrench to do the install. very straight forward fix after watching the video. spanner wrench is a must or the correct large socket with an impact driver. it was corroded on pretty well let the liquid wrench work for a while and then beat it off. approximately 2 hours to do to fix, spent some time cleaning stuff up also though. washer was 12 years old and debated scrapping it and getting a new one but then it would not match the dryer. ... Replaced the Rollers, Pins, belt and belt tensioner. One thing to keep in mind. In the video it was said that the back and front roller pins were different by lengths. They were the same length for my model. The differences were found to be the rear pins have left handed threads and the front ones were standard right hand threads. Keep that in-mind when you are trying to remove them. Read more

Before buying a new ($1200) washer, I found the trouble shooting guide and decided to check if my problem was a simple fix or a complicated procedure... turns out it was the simple fix. Removing the agitator was the hardest part, it lifted straight up, but took some muscle and a belt for leverage. Then I had to remove one bolt, lift off the damaged part, and put the new part on with the one bolt. Done. Works perfectly. Read more

Ordered water inlet valve. Two screws to take out. Disconnect the hose. Disconnect the two wires. Put in the new valve. Reverse the procedure. Whole thing took about 10 minutes. Read more
