Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Lg washer/dryer combo unit shook upper counter balance weight loose damaging the mount lugs on the tub cover and tore the tub gasket   Christine V. • Saluda , VA • March 28, 2020

The upper counter-balance weight mount design is a poor design to begin with. It started to rattle loose approximately 5yrs into the 8yrs that we've owned it. As it would start to loosen up (as evidenced by the loud banging noise exhibited during operation); I'd shut it down, pull the top off, remove the weight (it was almost always half rattled off at this point), wrap the mount lugs with friction tape (the plastic lugs were being worn down/chaffed by the balance weight), put the weight back... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Loud noise during spin cycle   Steven S. • Celina , OH • March 10, 2019

I started by watching the video and it was very helpful. I would make one suggestion. On our model the weights on the tub sit very close to the front gasket. It is much easier to put the gasket on the tub before you put the weights on. Also, since the washer was tore apart, I replaced the hoses and seals and shocks since the machine is about 8 years old. The shocks made a huge difference. It spins like it did when it was new. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. Read more

Rotor Position Sensor (Hall Sensor)
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: 6501KW2001A

This rotor position sensor (Hall sensor) tracks the direct-drive motor's rotor position and speed so the control can commutate the washer motor accurately. Replacing a failed sensor can restore proper wash/agitate and spin performance. What it does:

  • Supports smooth agitation and spin ramp-up/ramp-down
  • Failure may cause: no spin or agitation, cycle stalling/pausing, or an LE motor error code
What's included:
  • 1 rotor position sensor assembly
Install notes:
  • Unplug the washer and shut off water; wear protective gloves
  • Access the motor at the rear of the tub; remove the back panel if needed
  • Remove the rotor and stator; support the stator to protect wiring, then unclip/unscrew and replace the sensor
  • Align the sensor correctly and seat the connector fully before reassembly and testing

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My washer developed a leak that was present whether or not it was running   Clark H. • Banning , CA • July 19, 2026

After I checked the hose connections and determined that they were not the problem, I removed the top of the washer and saw water dripping from the cold-water intake valve. Before I called a service repairman, I checked You Tube for instructions on how to replace it. The instructions were precise and easy to follow. I easily remove the wires and hoses, then removed the part by removing 2 screws. I attached the replacement part, reattached the wires and hoses and was done, Leak fixed! Read more
