I watched the video on replacing the switch on a side freezer where prying out to original switch did not look difficult. I then got on the floor and tried to pry out my switch. Had a terrible time (locking tab or switch body hardened with time?) and mangled the switch terribly and the upper panel of the freezer somewhat, but the switch did come out. I first thought it was the auger in the ice container so I changed it and it was not the problem. I then talked to ApplianceParts customer service that it might be the yoke on the motor that turned the auger or even the motor itself even though it worked. I ordered the parts, the yoke was supposed to be able to be changed by itself but mind would not come off the motor shaft so I had to cut it off just to remove it from the unit so I had to change the motor anyway because of this. After replacing the filter and that not fixing it, I tried other things that ultimately led me to suspect the filter housing. Filter housing is fairly simple with mechanical bypass valve disengaged when you insert the filter. Valve would allow water to flow without filter but placing filter cutoff water completely. New housing did the trick. Read more
