Called another AP technician and he said it is the panel control board which is the keypad that needed replacing and promptly provided me a return authorization number to return the control board. My 15 year old son and I examined the new parts and made a plan for how we were going to take the front off of the oven. Turns out it was fairly simple. We removed the knobs, the knob shrouds, two philip screws on the side of the head and about 6, 6mm hex sheet screws. Voila! It came apart. Opened up door panel, unplugged ribbon cable from old keypad and plugged in new keypad without installing just to verify keypad was the problem. Start button on new keypad worked so I then removed old keypad which is basically just like peeling off a sticker. Next step was to remove leftover adhesive using solvent. This is a range control panel insert. This part fits over the top of the control panel and marks the burner control settings. Over time, the control setting markers on this part could wear off so that they can no longer be seen. If this is the case, the control panel insert can be replaced so that the correct settings can be used. If this part becomes discolored or otherwise worn in any way, the appliance owner may wish to replace it for cosmetic reasons. After doing much research online, I found out that the Touchpad on the JennAir downdraft gas range JGS9900BDS is very prone to "breaking." This is an oven with keypad directly above oven door. And needed to replace the keypad and housing. Pretty easy fix. first turn oven off at breaker and unplug unit.
