Bake Element (Lower Heating Element)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP661416

The bake element is the oven's primary lower heat source. Replacing a failed element restores proper preheating and even baking performance when the oven won't heat or struggles to maintain temperature during the bake cycle. What it does

  • Provides the main heat for the bake cycle in electric ovens
  • Common failure symptoms: no heat on bake, very slow preheat, or uneven baking
  • Visible damage such as blistering, cracks, or burn spots on the element indicates replacement is needed
  • Helps the oven reach and hold set temperature when functioning correctly
What's included
  • 1 bake element
Install notes
  • Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing to prevent electrical shock
  • Remove oven racks; access the element mounting screws from inside the oven cavity
  • Carefully pull the element forward, support the wires, and transfer the connectors one at a time to avoid losing them behind the liner
  • Ensure terminals are fully seated; do not overtighten mounting screws, then restore power and test bake

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Samsung refrigerator kept icing up causing a loud sound when fan hit it and eventually preventing the fan from moving.   Lisa E. • Old Bridge , NJ • September 13, 2020

After having a refrigerator repairman come 2 x’s to fix and it kept icing up then calls to the refrigerator repair were going unanswered I decided I was going to fix it myself. I watched 2 YouTube videos and decided I could do that. I order all the parts to change everything that could possibly be causing this. Heating element, defrost sensor, and 2 different temperature sensors. I figured if I was going to take the refrigerator apart I might as well try everything rather than having to do... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Baking element broke broiler never worked since I moved in 13 years ago and the four burners on the stove top were slowly dying   Marybeth K. • Milltown , NJ • November 13, 2017

With the help of Wendee and Karen, we finally figured out my model numbers and which parts where correct. I ordered the parts and all arrived the next day except for the Broiler element which arrived in 2 days. I installed the new Baking Element myself. Took longer to figure out which curcuit braker to turn off. In about 30 minutes I had a brand new Baking Element in my oven working perfectly. On the following day, I installed the Broiler Element. That took a bit longer as it sits in a metal... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broil element on stove burned out   Gerald A. • Palm Coast , FL • July 25, 2014

I ordered a replacement broiler element from AppliancePartsPros.com. I watched the on-line video on how to replace the broil element: this was very informative! The repair went fine, except that the broil element connector wires both retreated into the back of the stove, as was warned in the video. We then removed the back of the stove, which was very easy, and the connections to the broil element were then very easy from the back. I would suggest that the on-line video be revised to... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Malfunctioning defrost heater   Robert R. • Asheville , NC • March 11, 2015

Total repair took slightly over 1 hour. Would have taken longer had I not already have taken the freezer apart on a previous occasion. Little procrastination paid off. With only 50% capability I knew it is time to call the appliancepartspros. They shipped me parts within 3 days. It was practical to fix both at the time. All I needed was to disconnect power at range breaker box, grab a screwdriver to lift top open, a 16 inch or so piece of old 2×4 wood to keep the top top of stove lifted, so I could access heating elements from underneath. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The icemaker not making ice.   David S. • Lawrenceville , GA • July 17, 2021

Got the infamous icemaker freezing up problem so common to Frigidaire Gallery and Professional series refrigerators. I was also only getting the "OP" code on the diagnostic test 26, so I determined the defrost heater and/or the thermostat was probably bad. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You This was for a friend of mine his refrigerator stopped cooling   Gary G. • Ofallon , MO • July 12, 2015

This was a 2000 model so rather than just replace the defrost timer which was visibly burnt on the terminals, we just did everything. The cold control, defrost timer, thermostat, defrost heater and the compressor capacitor were all replaced. I had the same issue on my older unit and tore it apart replacing one item at a time over a three month period so on an older one i suggest do it all while it is apart. Read more
