Our GE front loader dryer is approximately 10 years old. It started making a loud noise. I first checked to make sure the washer was level. The washer is on a concrete floor. After watching lots of you tube videos I ordered all the parts that could be causing this problem. I ordered: Balance Ring, Suspension Pad Kit (3 rectangle plastic wear pads), Tub Suspension Pads(3 curved plastic wear pads), Suspension Spring, and a Spanner Wrench tool. Tore entire machine down to get to wash drum. Found it had a broken "spider" which is common with most front load machines. The drum is stainless steel but the spider is cast aluminum and it does not do well when exposed to laundry soap. It was pretty much disintegrated as a matter of fact. Replaced outer tub assembly shell. AppliancePartsPros Video was outstanding and easy to follow. Removed outer shell prior to ordering replacement. Took about 2-3 hours off and on (ie. washer and dryer were stacked and I was working in a confined space). A lot of time was spent in cleaning up the washer, spyder etc. prior to installation. This was the 2nd time my husband and I had to replace the bearings in just over a year. This time we decided to replace the spider because of the corrosion on the shaft which goes through the water seal.
