After reading posts on the problem I concluded that the motor and solenoid was OK because I was getting water shooting out in the water line before the water entered the freezer door. At the bottom of the door there is a quick disconnect to check the water before it goes into the freezer door. I replaced defrost timer (which I am glad I did because of wear on the points) but that did not cure the problem. So after checking other components, I found that the temperature control was the culprit. No problem, I will simply order part # 2162521100. Well Frigidaire decided to obsolete that part and "Has not provided an approved substitute". So, I have to scrap this freezer and pay $800 to $900 for a new one? Not! We attempted to reassemble the dispenser. At the time we did realize how simple it was to remove the cover. We checked Appliancepartspros.com and found the Water Dispenser Cover Assembly. Once we saw the part and understood how the cover was in place, we used a thin, flat, trowel to gently get under the cover to pry it loose. We then just snapped the new cover in place. Removed the water and ice dispenser from the freezer door and replaced the part Some screws were rusted and were hard to remove The ice dispenser was surprisingly dirty so the entire unit had to be cleaned. The electrical connection on the face plate pulled off during disassembly. Your customer rep. helped me with that. The videos were a BIG help. Replaced all three door switches and bracket. It had a break in it. Took less than an hour to fix once all parts arrived. Read more

The slider latch didn't slide far enough to allow removal of bin. I removed the slider and ground down the little stop tab about 1mm and that solved the problem. Read more
