Replaced plastic housing for $100. Recommend buying the whole assembly though. Cost a bit more but you would be done in 15min. When you just replace the housing, you have to disassemble the old one very carefully to reuse several parts that do not come with the housing. A lot of fragile plastics. Plus, make sure you have GooGone and 3M thin tape handy; you will absolutely need it. Again, buy the whole assembly and save time and headache. Read more

My refrigerator is 13 yrs old and began to build up frost in the ice cube shoot and the water tube began to freeze up over night. The flapper door was not closing completely. I simply removed the control panel by pulling up and out on the bottom edge, the edge is only about 1/8 inch thick, so don't reach in to far. This damper was added to the outside vent duct line as an additional block against outside air intrusion. It took a long time to determine the problem but eventually I discovered that the plastic bracket (latch hook) that held the three door-switches showed appreciable wear from repeated door openings and closings. This wear stopped the door from sealing properly and the door switch safety mechanism blew the line fuse. I replaced the worn bracket (AP6230612) as well as the plastic latch mechanism (AP4553585) on the door that engages this bracket (and of course the fuse too) and the microwave now... Read more

Replaced upper and lower thimble's, lever arm, cam closure. Door stop was not the problem, but ordered it and replaced it too. The door of course has to come off, remove the top hinge, and lift it away. Lubricated moving parts with silicone spray. Be sure and put the door back in the open position, so the lever arm and cam closure can properly interact, then close the door. Remove the plastic grate at the bottom to get at the lever arm. Replaced the actuator pad on the Whirlpool Gold Series, releasing the electronic menu pad to get to the water activator pad was the biggest hurdle. The release tabs are underneath the menu pad and you may feel as if you may break them when releasing them. They did not break but I did hold by breath. Read more

I ordered the door switches, switch monitor and the lever switch. i replaced all of the parts and the oven started to function only to have it fail again after 2-3 operations. I eventually determined that the main fuse holder was not completely securing the fuse. i believe the combination of new switches and realigning the fuse clip solved the problem. Read more

Removed complete housing, including the actuator to dispense ice; plastic cemented, with reinforcing strips of cloth to reinforce repair on left hand side of assembly. Then installed new actuator part from Appliance Parts, plugged in wires, then had to plastic cement the pack on back of the new actuator back on, as it had come loose. Reassembled all, and finally managed to get the water discharge tube back through the hole, than replaced the flat strip connector & replaced all screws. Works... Read more
