I took the machine screws out of the outer panel for the right side only. Then pull the panel back a bit to release the lips from the front of the machine and had immediate access to the internal assembly that housed mounting nut.

It went very easily. The two original clips were riveted in the top but a small drill bit cut the last of the rivit free and the clips remainders just fell out. There was no damage to the stop top. The butner simply snaps in to its socket so that was easy to replace. Pulled the old one out and put in the new one.

I found the videos on dishwasher repair that AppliancePartsPros offers and determined the likely cause of the problem. I removed the door cover and found soap caked on the back. I cleaned the cover and switched the wax motors to see if the clean rinse motor was good and ran a tested cycle. No improvement. I ordered two new wax motors for the Maytag dishwasher and those arrived in a few days from AppliancePartsPros. I replaced the old motors and ran a test cycle. The soap tray opened correctly....

I replaced the stirrer fan cover and fan, which had some carbon and slight burn marks on it. It was difficult to remove the fan cover as it did not rotate. I had to pry it off with a flat blade screwdriver, breaking the plastic tabs on the cover (which was being discarded anyway). My son-in-law helped me. He pulled the liner open enough that he could see he just had to tighten up the existing screw on the door handle.. For the liner, we put a new screw in each side and tighted it up. At first we were afraid it was in the hole the screw went into but finally got it to screw in tightly. Back in business!!!
