The Large Surface Element is an OEM component for Whirlpool ranges. As a key heat source, it withstands significant thermal stresses each use for cooking tasks. This surface element measures approximately 10” in diameter.
Over time, microfractures may accumulate in the ceramic glass from repetitive heating/cooling cycles. Mineral deposits also build up on the surface, reducing heat transfer effectiveness.

Replaced defrost heater, temperature and defrost limiter thermostat. After taking the cover off the air chiller I found the coils frozen solid and defrosted it with a hair dryer. Once defrosted I remover the heater coil to test it it was fine, then I could see the defrost limiter was broken and as I put the unit back together I broke the heater tube (it is glass) so I ordered all the parts that might be defective and replaced them for less than the charge of having some one come to check it out. I ordered the 8 inch Haliant Element from Appliance Parts Pro with overnight shipping (I needed to have it working for Easter weekend!) and it arrived when promised and in perfect condition! The Bake Element is an OEM component for Frigidaire wall ovens. It is an integrated heating coil that generates heat through electric resistance when powered. Located near the bottom of the oven cavity, the bake element facilitates heating for various cooking functions like baking, roasting, or warming. This element measures approximately 13 x 11 inches. Symptoms of a bad bake element include:
Causes can be cracks in ceramic sheathing allowing arcing, or mineral deposits coating coils over extended use impeding heat transfer.

First, I took an ohm reading across the elements and determined the bad one, which was failed, open circuit. (Zero continuity) I then replaced the lower heating element of the upper oven. Although the design of the oven and element make it appear that it will just drop down and slide out the front, this is not quite the case. Turned off power supply. Removed two screws (near the oven door) holding the ceramic top. Slid the top forward, disengaged the two power supply cables, and removed one ground wire. Turn off the water to the ice maker. Unload the freezer and remove the freezer door so you have room to work. Remove the ice maker by removing 2 screws in the front then pull the unit toward the front and unplug the wiring connection. The pipe will now be exposed. Remove the flexible piece from the front of the pipe that directs the water flow to the ice cube tray. Remove the wire tie on the front of the pipe and peel off the insulation surrounding the pipe.
