Intermittent condenser fan noise leading me to believe fan bearing failure imminent Robert M. • Munroe Falls , OH • April 22, 2021
Unplugged refrigerator and removed access panel from back of fridge. Have had this panel off many times for dust removal. Panel is a cheap piece of glorified cardboard on this Whirlpool model, which is a shame given that it was a $1000 refrigerator. Fan motor is mounted on stamped sheet metal bracket which I removed from cabinet with old fan attached to it. Metal bracket held in place by 4 1/4 inch hex head sheet metal screws. Two outermost screws can be removed with nut driver but access to...

The refrigerator lights in our whirlpool refrigerator did not go on when the door was opened Dennis G. • Somerville , NJ • August 16, 2014
We had delayed repairing the problem because we received a price of more than $ 100 from a local appliance repairman. However, after viewing the view on the ApplianceParts Pro website, I saw what an easy repair it would be. After receiving the part from you, I had my son do the repair because I felt it would a good father - son bonding time. It was so easy and he was proud of his ability. Thanks for your excellent repair video and the excellent price. It costs less than $ 22 instead of more...

Ice maker not producing ice or making squealing noise? The recirculating pump circulates water over the evaporator plate to form ice. Moderate DIY repair.
Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
It ran continuously and didn't make any ice but wasted a great deal of water Sharon W. • Ingleside On The Bay , TX • February 23, 2015
My husband (TACLB12654C) took the machine apart and found the recirculating pump would not run. The electrical receptacles inside the machine had corroded to the point that it took two days soaking in vinegar water to loosen them. He gave the entire machine a good cleaning, reassembled it, installed the new pump, and turned the little ice making machine into an operational device. Since this belonged to one of our best friends, our friend is now a happy camper.

Discoloration/growth on the water tube Grant P. • Milton , WV • April 13, 2017
This tube is very difficult to work with due to its location behind the cold plate. I loosened the two screws on the left, but there's no way to get the screws on the left loose. I cut the hose off of the pipe at the top of the cold plate and slowly worked it out.
The new tube comes folded in half, putting a bad crimp in the middle. The easiest way to get rid of the crimp is to pour boiling hot water onto the crimped area and then open up the tube. I didn't do it, but you might want to...

The ice maker was making very small ice cubes with a cloudy appearance Igal E. • Memphis , TN • January 01, 2017
There are plenty of DIY youtube videos to show you how to replace the parts. I went ahead and replaced more than just the broken parts. I figured if I had the machine opened up, I might as well replace parts that could go out in the future. I might have gone a bit too far with all the other parts. The only part that was really broken was the wiring harness. Two of the wires had corroded from the sockets and there was no other way than to replace the entire harness. Its a bit tricky to feed...

Broken cutting grid wire on kitchenaid kuis155 series ice maker Chad F. • Stevens Point , WI • August 08, 2015
This was a fairly easy process.
1) Tighten one of the wire ends to a screw and keep the wire as taut as possible while wrapping it through the grid. Brace the grid against a corner wall, or held within a vice (don't over tighten in this instance).
2) Be sure to have the second screw ready to tighten, and again, keep the wire taut as you wrap it around this screw. It may take some re-wrapping to eliminate slack.
3) After the lower wrapped section is complete, repeat for the upper wire...

Unit started making thin cloudy ice with chugging sounds during production. Edmond B. • Prosper , TX • February 24, 2019
The water flow during the fill step appeared extremely low. Confirmed the unit would make proper ice if I manually added more water. Through online research, found this was a common fail mode for this valve (low flow, continuous flow or no flow). During this search, the following video (https://youtu.be/By-i3gVMOdI) outlined how to use the onboard diagnostics which indicated the water level sensor wasn't working. The sensor hangs down in the water reservoir and is accessed by removing the...

Ice machine would power itself off every couple days Angela S. • West Harrison , IN • August 28, 2015
I believe the drain pump is designed to shut the machine off, if it senses a problem. I believe the problem was too much water going down the drain, more than the pump could handle perhaps. During operation there was more water dripping than seemed normal, though not a gush, just slow drips.
Using a mirror I detected pretty large cracks in the bottom of the water pan. I ordered and replaced the water pan. In order to replace the water pan, the water pan pump must be removed from the bottom of...

Ge ice machine zd1c150wbb d was not making ice Gary G. • Moore , SC • June 24, 2017
Noticed that some terminals on the wiring harness were corroded and that no water was being pumped over the ice grid. Ice machine did get cold inside the compartment so it was not apparent that the compressor was bad. Ordered a Water Pump (from bin to ice grid) and a new wiring harness. Recirculating pump appeared to be okay. As I am not an experienced service tech (actually a Chemist) logic told me that my chances of success were high (not guaranteed though).. After replacing the parts...
