Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My front loading washing machine would not drain.   Meryl L. • Fort Thomas , AZ • October 26, 2020

So, Saturday, the washer wouldn't drain, yes, I tried the Drain/Spin cycle. So I took the clothes out, rinsed them out twice in the laundry sink and dried them. After a quick Google search, I came to the conclusion that the pump was bad and ordered a pump, $125. Over the course of the next four days, expecting the new pump on Thursday, I baled out the washer, pulled it out from the wall and propped up the front (it's HEAVY), removed the front access panel, removed the drain inlet and outlet... Agitator
Genuine Frigidaire part
By: Frigidaire
Part Number: 131605901

The Agitator is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire washing machines. This component is responsible for moving clothes during the wash cycle, ensuring that water and detergent are evenly distributed for effective cleaning. The agitator's motion helps to loosen dirt and stains from fabrics. The agitator measures approximately 17" tall

Causes of a bad agitator can include wear and tear over time, damage from washing heavy or unbalanced loads, or issues with the agitator’s internal mechanisms that reduce its efficiency.

Symptoms of a bad Agitator include:

  • Clothes not getting properly cleaned
  • The washing machine making unusual noises during the wash cycle
  • The agitator not moving or moving erratically
  • Visible damage or cracks on the agitator

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broken fins on agitator   Annetta H. • Crane , MO • September 23, 2014

This was a fairly easy fix. The only problem I had was that the cover over the retaining nut was difficult to pull off. I changed to a larger pair of pliers and put a little more muscle to it and it popped right out. There was a little corrosion on the shaft that needed to scraped off for the new agitator to slide on easily but after that was gone the new part slid on and with some downward pressure it seated in. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The washer was filling very slow especially cold water.   Wayne S. • Oakland , MD • February 10, 2023

This is my third repair of this type. The first was a stand-alone washer and was very easy, because there was a plate on which the inlet valve assembly was mounted, and it was easily removed. This repair was on a Frigidaire stacked washer/dryer (laundry center). Stacked washer/dryers are typically purchased to save space and are often tucked into a closet. Be sure you can pull it out to access both front and rear. Remove drain hose from drain, detach water hoses, electricity and dryer vent... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Grill on air duct had an item melt on to it and partially block air flow   Charles C. • Orchard Park , NY • November 25, 2017

It was easy to find the part on appliance parts pros. Once I found it I studied the diagram and determined that there were 3 screws in the drum that needed to be removed. I disconnected power and then removed 3 interior screws. Once I did that I removed the back cover and removed the single screw on the bottom side of the air duct that held it in place connected to the heat tube. I then reversed disassembly. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Top loading washer would not agitate or spin h20 out after a clicking noise; the motor wouldn't engage or would start & then stop finally figured that it was the motor &/or capacitor   Susan S. • Pelkie , MI • October 31, 2014

I found your site which was most helpful. I saw on your forum, that others had replaced a motor & capacitor with + results. I was willing to spend what I thought was a reasonable amount & your guarantee was the clincher. I knew that if I called the appliance store where we had purchased the washer in 1998, it would be very expensive & even more important, it would take many days as they would have to order the part & then schedule a service call. I installed the motor & capacitor & was... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Frigidaire washer not draining water and loud noise while trying to drain water   Tolga A. • Sammamish , WA • September 18, 2015

When I removed a bunch of very wet soaking towels at the end of a wash cycle, it was clear that the water was not draining properly. The washer also made a very loud noise during the water drain period. That was suspicious. I ordered the part, opened the washer, removed the old pump and faced with a nasty surprise. The seal at the bottom of the tub had started to fail. On large loads water would leak so I ordered a new one rubber seal. Getting the trunnion off the transmission shaft was hard as it was calcified and corroded. I used a wire brush to get some of it off and then used a lot of WD-40.
