Whirlpool 8201756 Broken Tab Ice Door Kit OEM Part

I used the Broken Tab Ice Door Kit and the repair was perfect! The ice dispenser works better now than before the door broke. Buy the repair kit, follow the instructions, and here's a few notes from my experience: 1. I initially only removed the broken/fragmented parts of the ice door tab hinges. The metal adapter fits around the existing hinges. 2. I did a few (3 to 4) test fits of the adapter using the hinge pin and door to check for proper alignment. I ended up shaving off a bit of what was left of the broken tab to provide some clearance for the new adapter. I did another fit check and the door seal was perfect. 3. This is very important: Follow the directions regarding what adhesive backings to remove and what not to remove!!! It appears they've modified this kit without removing the extra adhesive material. There's a bracket that compensates for this. 4. This is equally important: I performed several "practice" test trial installations (10 to 15) before removing the adhesive backings. These fit checks included using the hinge pin to ensure proper alignment with the remaining plastic hinge pin. This is your "right of passage". When you're confident, remove the adhesive backing and go for it! 5. Replace all the parts provided in the kit! It turns out my door closing damper was a bit worn and ice cubes would sometimes come flying out and onto the floor. Another problem is now solved!

Recommended the Broken Tab Ice Door Kit by your sales representative, which was easy to install and highly recommend the kit to any one who has a similar problem. It was a very inexpensive repair kit, since the Dispenser housing has to be bought as a complete unit, and for a few more dollars could have bought a new frig. The recommended kit is the way to go. After a web search on the problem, the APP site came up. After finding what I thought was the part, (icemaker door assembly),I ordered it, then realized that I needed the full assembly. UIsed chat to verify the correct part and cancel the previous oder. Chat pro was excellent and answered my questions. Part arrived next day. Install too me about an hour. The key things are: take a picture of each step during diassembly because the pics in the instructions are vey small, read each step carefully, as you do each step it becomes clearer how the next step goes, pics may not exactly resemble yours exactly, as stated in other reviews, make several practice placement on the bracket before removing the adhesive coverings, Very pleased with the result. The bracket to replace the broken tabs is ingenious.

Ordered Broken Tab Ice Door Kit and replaced all parts. Pretty straight forward....watched a couple of youtube videos that were close to the same model as mine just to get an idea on how to do the project. Instructions provided the most help with the exception of the bracket support clip picture didn't show tab well and still not sure if I put it on backwards or correctly (but it works fine either way). Also instructions made it easy to get ahead of yourself and miss the note stating NOT to remove the adhesive on the lower surface of the new metal bracket w/tabs. Other than that it went smoothly and if I had to do it again, it would probably only take about 20 minutes. Scott (the try to fix it first guy)

I purchased the ice door repair kit.The replacement of the ice dispenser door went well.However, I did have to adjust the metal tab replacement plate.After the initial placement, the pin would not go in the holes because they were not lined up well.However, after a small adjustment, the repair went in smoothly.If you do this repair yourself it is helpful to make sure you have the holes lined up properly by threading the pin through the holes and adjusting the plate before you do it with the door and spring attached.
