Chris M Bay Village , OH November 21, 2015 One of my burners wouldn't light I disassembled the top of the range and looked at the problem burner. It looked like there was a spark at all three other burners but not the problem burner. There was a visible spark at the connector between the wiring harness and the ceramic igniter but that spark wasn't making it up to the top of the igniter where it can light the burner. I ordered a new igniter for $19 and it was on my doorstep the next day. I replaced the part and now my wife thinks I am a genius. Tom H Cumming , GA September 01, 2014 Appliance: Maytag 30`` Electric Freestanding Self Clean Range Convection MGT8885XS01 Ignitor on maytag stove stopped working Had to disassemble the cook top in order to get at the ignitor. The part that the ignitor is in is a white metal and the steel screws used to hold it in welded themselves due to the dissimilar metals. Had to completely remove the burner and try to drill out the screw which failed. Wound up getting a new burner and screws in order to finish the job. Read More...
