Marjorie S Lansing , NC December 16, 2017 Not spinning clothes dry Replaced clutch assembly, gearcase input shaft seal and motor coupler. When I disassembled the washer I realized the shaft seal on the top of the gearcase was leaking and not the input shaft seal. So had to order more parts before I could finish this job. Altogether I replaced agitator dogs, both seals on the gearcase, the clutch assembly and the motor coupler. Agitator dogs replacement is a very easy job, no tools required, takes less that 5 minutes and made a huge difference with how well the agitator works. Clutch assembly replacement is easy once you get the transmission loose from the washer. Input shaft seal was very hard to get out until I found information on using a sheet metal screw to screw into the seal to remove it. New seal went in easily. Transmission cover seal was easy to get out and just took a little time to get it back in and seated well. Since I had the cover off I drained all the oil out of the transmission, cleaned up all the parts and put it back together. I didn't bother doing the rebuild kit. It took about 1 1/2 hours to reassemble the washer as I had challenges figuring out how to get the clutch assembly to line up with the brake. Turn the input shaft till the transmission assembly falls into place. I replaced the motor coupler since its inexpensive and I had the washer torn down to a point that made it easy to replace. All in all not a hard job, washer working nicely now. Spent about $100 on this repair and several hours over a couple of days. Not bad for a 60 year old woman who is tired of paying expensive repair bills for something I can manage myself. Alfred H Deep River , CT August 16, 2015 I damaged the transmission oil seal trying to pry off the broken coupler on my washer causing a leak Local appliance stores do not carry the transmission oil seal- they want to sell you a new transmission. Found the oil seal kit here and ordered it, hoping that I wouldn't have to wait too long. To my surprise the part was at my door the next day! The new seal was a perfect match. I poured some 90W gear oil into the shaft area to replace the oil that had leaked from the gearcase and then tapped in the new seal over the shaft. Problem solved and no more leak. John R Brooktondale , NY December 25, 2021 Appliance: Kenmore Washer 11020922990 Kenmore 90 series washer leaking and dripping oil. Watched your great videos for transmission seal replacement and tub bearing replacement. We love this washer, bought in 2000, and I basically had to rebuild it. All new springs, skid plate sliders, changed the oil in gearcase, put in new agitator dogs, and a motor drive bushing. But I could not get the old bearings hammered out of the tub centerpost. I pulled out the inner tub and outer tub, pressure washed the old soap stains and grease out. Had a sledge hammer and penetrating oil. Finally damaged the tub center post, and ordered a new one. The 20-year old bearings would not budge before the welds broke under the hammer. APP had a new one to me the next day. My advice, don’t try to push out the bearings. The new post comes with all the new bearings already pressed into place, the top gasket comes too, in a separate baggy, but their sales team did not know this, I was told that I needed to buy the bearings with the center post. But they take returns up to a year later. No big deal. Now the machine is running, not leaking and our laundry is cleaner. But it took a week, working 3-4 hours a day including the pressure washing and trying to pound out the old bearings. Richard S Saint Louis , MO April 24, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer LSR6332KQ0 Whirlpool lsr6332kq0 washing machine leaking oil I have an older Whirlpool washing machine that was leaking oil through the gearcase input shaft seal. I ordered a new seal from appliancepartspros.com, received it in only 2 days, and replaced the old seal with it. I used gasket sealant around it as well as on the gearcase cover, which I removed to check the oil level inside (about 3 ounces left after all the leaking) and add new oil. This effectively solved the oil leak problem. Read More... 3 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers, Socket Set
