The Grommet is an OEM part for Whirlpool gas cooktops. It forms a protective barrier and seal where wiring or mounting bolts pass through ventilation cutouts.
Causes of a bad grommet typically include degradation of the rubber material over time due to heat exposure during cooking. Physical stress from repeated installation/removal can also crack or loosen the seal.
