More to the point (of appreciation) is that there was a video right there on the page about how to replace this part. I hadn't tought much about it, since the lid easily came off with the pin broken. The lid shut-off switch is located behind the lid How About That. I order the plastic ball the hold the lid in place plus the lid shut off switch. I watched the video that AppliancePartsPros.com has on how to replace the lid and the plastic balls. I removed the lid to get to the two philips head screws to remove that part of the shut-off switch. I took the new switch out of the package and compared it to the old switch. Called a Maytag repair man, said "the bumpers are no longer available". These little things are actually critical to operation, because the lid safety switch needs to be pressed back far enough to sense that the lid is closed, and without the bumpers, this is a little iffy. I figured out that the problem was the latch. I entered my model and serial #s. I chose the part that I needed and was treated to a video on how to do the job and what I would need for tool This saved me hours of trying to reason the job out on my own. Installed the part and now the washer is like new again. The new latch even came with a light bulb. I had not expect this and ordered a new bulb. But now I have a spare!! Read more
