Fix a refrigerator not cooling or ice buildup on evaporator coils with this defrost thermostat. Moderately easy install, typically 1-2 hours.
Fridge keept building up ice in defrost drain drain in freezer. Once the drain pan filled with ice it drips into fridge compartment. After taking things apart three times to thaw it out, decided to replace defrost components - heater and temperature switch. In addition to new parts, also added a 12 gauge copper wire hook that hangs from defrost heater into the defrost drain. I watched a YouTube tutorial on "fridge's not cooling". A few troubleshooting ideas were discussed, one of which was to replace the "device start" and "run Capacitor". I probably only needed the device start but decided to purchase both through "AppliancePartsPros.com" for a total of $134. Replaced both primary and secondary water valves to make sure I fixed the problem. Both valves have to open when you function the water dispenser and when the ice maker tray needs refilling. YouTube video was a great help and let me know that I had to lengthen one hose. The video showed me the exact parts I needed to lengthen the hose.
