Causes of a bad direct drive washer pump can include blockages from debris or foreign objects, wear and tear from regular use, damage to the pump impeller, or electrical issues affecting the pump motor. Over time, these factors can hinder the pump's performance, leading to operational issues.

Symptoms of a bad direct drive washer pump include:

Richard D for Model Number LSQ9549PW1

My washer drum bangs against the wall of the frame when it is in extraction mode. I took the washing machine apart to see if there were any springs missing or broken from the frame of the drum, but I found that all the springs were attached and looked in good working condition. I looked at the parts diagram to go observe and see if there were any springs missing from the machine in comparison to the diagram and noticed that none were missing. I tested machine again after I had replaced all the springs after purchasing them just in case my eyes deceived me from my first observation, but after testing it the problem persisted. I then notice in the drum of the machine the water was not fully drained out of the machine so I thought that the drain pump was the cause to the banging of the drum against the washer frame walls. I then checked the drain pump and noticed that it looked pretty good and decent and it came off its housing without any struggle. I also checked the pump to see if the impeller was functional and all looked functional and clear. I have no idea what is causing the washing machine to bang against the inner walls of the washing machine frame when the washer is in extraction mode? Please, can you help with your expert opinion and advise for a solution to my problem?

Answer

Richard, There are pads on the skate plate that would most likely be the cause for this issue. The part number for the pads would be lower 285744 and upper 285219.
