Jim for Model Number Whirlpool WTW 6200 SW2 I have a Whirlpool WTW 6200 SW2 washer and get the error message “UL” every time the washer is run, even when the washer is empty. I confirmed that the washer is level and the four suspension rods, sockets, and balls are clean and lubricated. 1) I removed the tub and notices the shaft is rusty and there are a two metal grooves. Is the shaft supposed to be smooth to allow the tub to float up and down? Can I just sand the shaft smooth? 2) When I spin the shaft (which spins the rotor) it is easy for about the first quarter of the turn then it gets harder to spin, is this supposed to happen? 3) It also appears that there is water in the stator/rotor assembly, is there supposed to be? 4) There is water in the enclosed bottom part of the tub assembly, is there supposed to be? Thank you for your time, Jim
Answer Jim, There is supposed to be a little water in the outer tub but there should be no water in the stator and rotor assembly. The shaft can be sanded slightly but it sounds like you are going to need a tub bearing kit W10435302 for the unit due to the water issue. There is also a tool you need for the tub bearing W10447783 Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Saturday, March 30, 2013
