Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Motor Rotor (Part Number: OEM11648502)

Harry, based on the information provided, it sounds like either the clutch actuator W10754448 is not operating properly or the clutch W10734521 is hanging up on the gearcase W11393685. If the clutch that is currently on can move freely on the gearcase, the clutch actuator would be the most likely cause of failure.

John, Unfortunately, epoxy will not correct this issue. The option that you would have would be to replace the tub support shaft which can only be gotten by getting the outer tub part number W10901175

Ken for Model Number mvwb725bwo

I have a Maytab Bravos Xl and it is showing UL code. When it cycles to spin, the basket shakes and shuts down the cycle. Rebalancing the load does not help. I contacted a local repair guy and he changed the suspension rods, center bearing and shaft, but i'm still having the UL code and now even more violent when trying to spin. The repair guy now thinks has something to do with the basket, but I'm not convinced. I'm thinking stator and/or rotor position sensor. What do you suggest? Thanks, Ken

Jer for Model Number MTW6700TQ0

I replaced the bearings and shaft on my Maytag Bravo washer. During reassembly, I put the motor rotor over the stator and tightened the center bolt until it was tight. I still have some slight movement of the rotor, in and out. Is this normal? I did not notice this when I disassembled the rotor. I see the specialty bolt has space between the retaining clip and the head. Is this so that the rotor can sort of float when spinning at such a high rate of speed? Please advise, Thank You.

1 Answer

Jer, the rotor should not have any movement on the drive shaft when secured by the mounting bolt. In regards to why there is spacing on the bolt itself, the manufacturer does not identify why it is designed as such.

Dennis, if a slightly larger allen key will not allow for the removal of the bolt, an extractor would need to be used. Unfortunately, the bolt is not available separately from the rotor 280146.

My Whirlpool Cabrio top load washer quit working and gave me the F51 code. I ordered a new rotor motor sensor and put it on. I put everything back together. I marked most items I took off so I would know the alignment. But there was on piece of plastic that I didn’t take off, but it fell off went I had the stater and copper coil off replacing the sensor. I thought i had it back in the right alignment, but apparently I don’t. The washer works fine now, but the faster it spins the louder it makes this roaring noise. It’s so loud you can her in the driveway with the washer running in the laundry room. Suggestions or details on how that plastic piece goes back on? Thanks in advance....

1 Answer

Hello Tracy, if the rotor is not contacting the stator then an increasing roar noise in spin is usually an indication of worn/faulty spin bearings. Unknow what plastic part you are describing, hopefully it is not a broken off part. If you have further questions, please contact our Parts Pros at 1-877-477-7278 with the model number and have a picture of the part handy and we can try to identify the part.

Dan, The magnets hold a rotor into position. Also, you posted a whirlpool dryer model and a rotor is on a washer. Maybe you can repost with more of a description of what you are needing.

Brian, The motor rotor bolt is not a "standard" or SAE bolt. Unfortunately, the rotor bolt is not available as an individual part and you would need to order the 280146 / 280146 Motor Rotor Assembly. Thanks,

Donna, it would be recommended that the splines are inspected for any burs or damage that may be causing the rotor to not seat. It is also recommended that the bolt is inspected for stripped threads.
