How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP6891612 / WR30X30972 Icemaker

With the help of your company and many of your great employee's. I finally fixed my old GE icemaker. It took new parts but still cheaper than a new one. Plus learned a few things. I want to thank the people who were so helpful from your company. Sure couldn't have fixed it without their help. Bill Andrus 

Put vasline around plug moved cup to rear of unit 

An electrical storm knocked out our power and the resulting surge fried everything that was connected and had an electronic circuit board or surge sensitive devices. The water control valve for the ice maker was burned out, but that was not all. The Ice maker has an electronic circuit board that burned out in the storm too. After replacing the both the water control valve and the Electromechanical Icemaker kit the production of ice resumed normally. Bough ice maker 

New ice maker. Super easy install. Probably could have fixed the old one with some cheap parts but wasn't sure that would work so just replaced the whole unit and now I have ice again! 

Bought replacement ice maker. Received it the next day. Took about 10 minutes to install - so easy! Back in business! Video on this site was extremely helpful and gave me the confidence to do it. Wish I had done it months ago! Piece of cake! 

I got a new ice maker unit for my GE freezer from appliance parts pro and installed it with my 8-year-old helper. 1 screw and one electrical connection, both easily accessible. Great price compared to the competitor.

It was very easy to change it out. There was an extra piece in the bag. Not sure what it was for. Wasn't labeled or not noted in the instructions. The ice maker works, no problems.
