How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP6891612 / WR30X30972 Icemaker

Replaced with one of your Ice Makers. 

Installed new ice maker. Took 5 minutes. 

Ordered & replaced with new ice maker. New ice maker had different plug, so needed to use included cord adapter. This cord was too bulky for ice tray to fit, so needed to remove plastic cover in back of freezer and unscrew the plug from side of freezer wall. This enabled me to store the cord assembly behind the plastic cover and the tray to slide in freely. 

Replacedthe sump and demineralized whole machine with lime away. 

The problem with the Ice maker was a stripped cam. I decided to replace the whole unit rather than just the part. (Ice maker was 17 yrs. old). I ordered a new water valve to be on the safe side. Replaced ice maker--still no Ice--replaced water valve. Everything worked. The sound of ice cubes dropping into the tray is a wonderful thing! The worst part of the job is trying to get the refrigerator in a position to work on the water valve (and cleaning up under it) part replacement is a cinch. 

Since GE no longer makes the part I needed as a separate piece for sale, I had to get a new icemaker. With Appliance Pro's installation video and the information with the part, it went in in less than 10 minutes and worked perfectly the first time. 

I watched the video and the FAQ posted on this website and determined that it was my ice maker. I looked at the pictures of the new Ice maker and it didnt look the same so I was kind of hesitant to buy it but I had purchase other things from this company so I trusted what they were saying. I received the ice maker and Auger in one day! amazing. I followed the instructions posted on this website on how to replace it . It was very easy and I noticed the water being poured into the icemaker try right away. that made me happy. I checked about an hour later and there was Ice in the bid which made my family very happy! Thank you. 

Replaced defective icemaker with new unit. Video provided a step by step procedure, made the removal and addition very easy. 

Install icemaker kit and install solenoid 

Went to appliancepartspros.com and very easily ordered the correct part. Ordered on Friday got part delivered on Monday. Replacing the part took only about 5 minutes with no problems encountered. Piece of cake!
