How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP7018722 / WR23X37285 Light Switch

Replaced the switch which appliance dealer said is no longer made. I was able to find and buy one online. 

I ordered a new switch from AppliancePartsPros.com after watching a short installation video that convinced me it would be an easy fix I could do myself. It took me less time to switch out (pardon the pun) new for old than it took me finding out where to cut off the power to the fridge on the circuit box. Most welcome was the speedy delivery of the part I sent for. It was delivered so fast it totally caught me by surprise! 

Ordered a switch watched your video - installed the switch and wala it works - simple easy and done the way I like it !!!

Replaced switch light in a few minutes without problem.

I figured out that it was the switch was not working. I looked up the model number needed, went on YouTube watched a video on how to replace the switch. I replaced myself in about 5 minutes. Works fine now. 

One morning opened the fridge to find the light had stayed on and warmed the inside. After that I took the light bulb out and it seemed like the fridge and freezer was only working at times. I wasn't sure why the freezer would be affected by the fridge door switch but decided to replace the switch as a cheap and easy first step anyways. It took 10 minutes. I had to remove the temperature control panel (two hex screws) to pop the switch out from the back. After that, just plugged in the new switch and popped it into place. The new switch fit perfectly and it seems like everything's working again. 

Thanks to your repair video, the fix was a snap. The part was perfect and the huge inventory selection was easy to search. Last but not least, a good price and fast shipping. 

I am going to use the refrigerator door switches to illuminate my closet. I am installing LED light strips in my 10-foot closet. There are 4 bi-fold doors that I am going to rig these switches to turn on the light strip whenever any of those doors are opened. When all of the doors are closed the light will go out.
