I replaced the Timer knob components. Removing the cover that contains the Timer was simpler than I anticipated. Just remove the screws on the top of the back of the machine. Hold the cover and lift up and push to the left (facing the front of the washer). Removed the Timer Knob Clip with small needle-nose pliers. Grasped the Timer and turned counterclockwise to remove and unplugged the wiring clip. The timer is seated to the cover and held securely in place with one screw. I seated the new Timer into the inside of the cover. This step took a minute to figure out but if you look at the inside of the cover, and then the back of the Timer, it is easy to see how it fits. Replaced the single screw that holds the Timer in place. Replace the wiring (one clip with many wires that simply snaps into place). Reseated the cover and replaced the screws.
I've never done this task before and I figured it out by looking at it. Much simpler than I thought.
The difficulties? 1. Removing the cover. It doesn't just lift up. You must lift up and slide it over.
2. Removing the Timer mechanism. Once the screw is removed, the Timer must be twisted to be removed. Once you take it off, you will know how to put the new one back on.
