The Belt Drive is an OEM part for GE washing machines. It connects the motor to the washer drum, enabling the drum to rotate and perform the various wash cycles. This belt ensures the proper transfer of power from the motor to the drum, facilitating efficient washing and spinning.
Common causes of a bad belt drive include regular wear and tear, overloading the washer, or a misaligned drum. These issues can lead to the belt stretching, fraying, or breaking.
Symptoms of a bad Belt Drive include:
- The washer drum not spinning or agitating
- Unusual noises such as squeaking or thumping during operation
- The washer stopping mid-cycle
- Visible damage or looseness of the belt
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Broken washer belt and speed sensor James G. • Fort George G Meade , MD • April 08, 2022
I found a YouTube video, order the parts about midnight Saturday and-they came in the mail before lunch on Tuesday.
I laid the washer on the rear panel, removed both pulleys to clean them, installed the speed sensor. bolted the pulleys back in place, installed the new belt-making sure it was centered and everything moved freely, and attached the belt/pulleys cover. I set the washer back up, reattached the water lines, placed the drain tube, and plugged in back in.
Works like new !!! 30 minutes...
