The Compression Ring is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This ring is essential for securing the tub within the washing machine, ensuring it remains in place during the wash and spin cycles. It helps maintain the stability and proper function of the washing machine.

You should replace the compression ring if it becomes worn, cracked, or damaged. Causes of a bad compression ring can include frequent use, high-stress loads during wash cycles, or physical damage, which can lead to instability and poor washing performance.

Symptoms of a bad compression ring include:

  • Excessive shaking or movement of the washing machine during cycles
  • Unusual noises during operation
  • The washing machine tub appearing misaligned or loose
  • Ineffective washing due to instability

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello Roger, When you pull out on the center knob, this is the "ON" position. You should not be able to change the cycle position since this is not considered to be normal operation. If the position in the cycle needs to be changed, to protect the contacts in the timer mechanism, the center knob should be pressed in and turned, then pulled back out to resume operation.

Hello Tony, This can be the fault of the knob WH01X10310 or the dial assembly WH11X10033. If the timer clicks when you turn the knob, the most likely cause is the dial assembly. Otherwise, the best thing you can do is to reach in behind the knob and pull the retainer clip so the knob can be removed. This way you can physically see the teeth and tabs to determine which is at fault.
