How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3872949 / WD21X10224 Interlock Switch

I checked the latch mechanism to make sure it was closing properly and seemed fine, so then took apart the door and control panel to have a closer look and was able to identify a bad interlock switch. Knowing this switch tells the machine that the door us sealed and ready to start a wash cycle, I knew it had to be the problem. Ordered the part from appliancepartspros.com and replaced it. Just took a Phillips screw driver and some pliers. Now it works just like it should. Thanks for great pricing on parts and shipping. 

Replaced both; used YouTube videos & APPro video 

Ordered two new switches and replaced them. 

Searched symptoms on YouTube, viewed the videos that were tied to AppliancePartsPros.com. Ordered a new Interlock switch from AppliancePartsPros.com. Replaced the switch. 

First I replaced the switch which required some rework as the new switch had different connections. Then the float would not operate the switch so I added a piece of plastic pipe fitting on the top of the float. Now it all works fine. 

I replaced both parts, Interlock Switch, and the Switch Plunger. I'm not actually sure which one was the actual problem. I replaced them according to the videos on the site: excellent instruction videos. The repair went very smoothly. The dishwasher works perfectly now.

Watched the video - very good BTW. Bought the relay and actuator for $30, 11 of which was shipping and thus saved $800. Very helpful site. and the part arrived in good time. You guys are great. 

Replaced the interlock switch. Excellent instructional video. But could have mentioned the spring pin plunger, which popped out, and the vent duct that fell out. It took considerable time to properly replace these items, replacing the interlock switch was a breeze.
