How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3995255 / WH11X10049 Timer Dial

I removed the dial knob and plate as instructed by the video, removed the front panel of the washer to access the switch. I found the plastic molded bracket that the timer rests on to be broken and the tab on the timer where it is attached by a screw to be broken. I ordered a replacement switch, dial and knob. When it arrived I replaced the parts as instructed, but I had to use super glue to hold the new switch in place due to the support tab on the washer panel being broken off. After letting the glue cure I reattached the panel and everything worked great. 

I ordered the timer dial, the control knob assembly and the timer knob clip. I only needed to replace the control knob assembly to fix the machine. All the engagement teeth were broken off the original control knob and that is what the problem was. The repair (remove and replace the control knob assembly) was very simple and took only a few minutes. The video was helpful to see what was required to remove the timer knob clip. 

Ordered new timer, dial and control knob assembly. After unplugging machine I removed the knobs from the control consul. Removed three screws holding consul face plate from rear of machine. Moved faceplate forward to gain access to electronic components. Timer is located on right with one hold down screw which I removed. Lifting timer from mount location I removed wiring harness. Installed harness on new times and inserted into hole for knob. It would be helpful if front was market on timer. Installed screw and reinstalled consul face with three screws. Installed all control knobs except timer. Installed dial with arrow up and pushed control knob into place. Pulled control knob out and pushed in to set timer to desired cycle. Turned on and the washer worked. 

We had to order the entire timer assembly because the part taking the most abuse is plastic. Of course. Watched the video and easily did the repair. Thanks. 

Replaced the timer, ring and knob, however while removing the old timer, I broke off one of the retaining clips that hold the timer tight to the front panel. Had to rig up an alternative, put a screw thru the tab on the new timer and into the front panel. A little bit of the screw came thru the other side, but out of the way enough. Looks like crap BUT, its fixed and clothes get clean so victory! Looked at a price for a new front panel and it's way too expensive for a piece of plastic. With a new panel and timer, I'm better off buying a new machine. That said, should have been a 10 minute, very easy project, my own fault it took longer. 

Called a local repair man who did not return the call. Called another one who turned out to have a you pull it salvage yard for washing machines. Got on the internet and found AppliancePartsPros.com. Entered the model number which put me onto the assembly drawings. Picked out the knob parts. watched the videos for instructions on how to remove the old parts and assemble the new ones. Ordered the parts. When they arrived most of the assembly work shown had already been done. Took me about two minutes to replace the old parts and test them. Perfection.

Replacing the timer dial, I order a compression ring too,but you don't needed because the timer dial bring one,but the dial work perfect and the problem was fix, upstanding service by your company I already recommended to two of my friends. 

New timer, replaced the control knob and timer dial while I was at it. The front panel was tabs that held the switch in place other than the one screw was brittle and breaking off, so I had to secure it with a couple of bolts and nuts. The same problem happened to the water level switch and had to do the same with it.
