How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5806905 / WE04X20089 Timer

When removing the knob to replace the timer found the knob was cracked around the timer input shaft, the timer was still good, just replaced the defective knob 

My son-in-law watched the repair video and fixed it. 

Replaced the timer. 

I ordered a new timer. It was pretty easy to replace. I removed the screws from the upper back panel. Pulled the knob off, the timer is removed by turning it counterclockwise. All the wire terminals were labeled. Took a picture with my phone just in case. I remove the wires one at a time and connected them to the new part. Reinstalled timer and pushed the knob back on. Tested it and the problem was fixed :) I put a long time as I had move stuff to get the dryer out where I could work on it. 

I was mad I had to buy a whole new timer because the plastic stripped, but after much procrastination, I found Appliance Parts Pros and there prices were cheaper than I had originally found with other suppliers. My parts arrived way faster than estimated and there were no surprises when installing because they looked just like the original components and worked perfectly when I tested them. I wish I found Appliance Parts Pros on my first internet search, but now I know and have a GO TO appliance parts supplier when another rental needs a repair. 

Replaced both timer and knob. 

My husband and I watched a YouTube video and were able to easily replace the timer and the knob. 

This is the father-in-law, I'm the one who fixed it. Took about 20 minutes to take the back off, and took the old timer off, put the new one on, and replaced the back panel. Plugged it i,n and ran it through its cycle. I fixed things that brake for all my children. I don't have access to the model number, it is a GE 

Remove and replace took less than ten minutes. Very simple job. Dryer now works correctly. Will use AppliancePartsPros.com again.
