How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3419048 / WD01X10175 Check Valve Flapper

I replaced the pump drain assembly. The flapper valve was included in the assembly, so I did not need to order that. On previous repairs, the old drain hose was tricky to reinstall, so I replaced it and the hose clamp.The silverware basket had holes in the bottom and required replacement. I had some broken tine clips. 

Replace the oump 

Ordered the parts and replaced the flap valve and the hose to the garbage disposal cleaned out all the insides and it's working like brand new. 

We started by first disassembling the inside of the dishwasher. When we did this we found some broken glass in the bottom. I went to the parts website and looked for my problem to get suggestions. We assumed that since we found the glass that some must have gotten into the drain pump. We ordered the part. We especially liked the fact that there was a video available to show you how to complete the repair. Everything went smoothly and the dishwasher is working fine. 

Turned water off to appliance. Then turned power off and pulled dishwasher out of cabinet. Drained water from dishwasher and turned it on it's side. I then disconnected water line and discharge hose from dishwasher. I removed the drain pump and hose and replaced the flapper valve. I then put it back together and reinstalled it in the cabinet. Total time for repair was approximately 30 minutes. 

Turn of breaker, unhook water, drain, and power. Pull out dishwasher. Lay on side. Loosen all hose clamps and remove inlet sump. If drain basket needs to be clean then remove top cover inside tub first and then remove basket from bottom. Replace basket after cleaning and put cover in place from inside tub. Then put inlet sump back in place doing oval clamp first. Everything else will go easy. The hardest part was the drain basket and cover. 

Pulled out the dishwasher and found a hole in the pump connector. Your video provided all the details needed to replace the part. Part came in 2 days. Greate service. 

I replaced the Drain Pump. Replacing the drain pump itself wasn't more than a 15-minute job. Most of the time on my project was extracting my dishwasher from underneath the counter. If I hadn't had this particular situation, I estimate the total project would have taken no more than an hour. With all the "How To" Videos offered by Appliance Parts Pros, I won't hesitate to attempt to fix any appliance going forward! The part only cost me $64.00. If I hadn't fixed it myself, I would have paid a minimum of $150 - $300 for a repairman OR I would have had to buy a new dishwasher for no less than $400, especially during the "Pandemic shortage" situation! Once I tore it down found the drain check valve, and both flapper valves had deteriorated. Replaced the Pump Motor body and assembly, the check valve, and both flapper valves. Reassembled, reinstalled; works great again! 

Replaced DW drain sump housing which was ripped. Also replaced most plastic fittings and rubber valve inserts. 20-year-old DW. The issue with replacing the pump connector - I had to shim the Spray Arm Water Supply Tube with a homemade gasket so it would tighten. I suggest marking the position of the old pump connector so the threads start in the same place. DW works great - no leaks and seems to function better. I needed several orders as I first thought it was the tub gasket leaking, then discovered a ripped sump, and finally noticed a frayed door spring cable.
