I purchased a set of new door springs and cable assemblies. The install was fairly easy but required shutting off the power disconnecting the power cables, water feed, and discharge lines so I could pull the dishwasher out enough to get the side panels off. Taking the side panels off was straightforward, just don't forget the two screws behind the door.
I only had a cable broke on one side, but you could see some slight fraying on the second side, so it was a good idea to change both. I also changed the springs, but honestly I'm not sure it it was necessary since the old springs looked relatively new. I think the springs may get stretched over time, so I followed the lead of some others that did the same job.
Putting the spring and cables on is easy and requires no tools at all. The job was not hard at all but did require some effort and patience. From start to finish including cleanup took around 45 minutes.
