How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4445128 / 6500EL3001A Dryer Moisture Sensor Bar

Replaced 4 roller bearings and the drive belt ... only one roller was bad... but once the machine was apart replacing them all seemed prudent. Disconnecting the electrical connectors was the hardest part of the job (the video made it look easy). I had to use a jeweler’s screw driver to get at the locking tab in the door switch. 

Replaced all rollers (4), replaced belt and censors (2), while everything was apart, vacuumed cleaned everything. 

With a used dryer, one cannot spend a lot of money on repair people to repair it, simply not worth it. However, after watching the videos I felt confident that I could do it myself. I simply ordered and replaced the top four repair parts and it took care of the issue. The dryer also benefited from a deep cleaning to get all the lint removed. The hardest part of the repair was to pull all of the plugs from the circuit board. It wasn't complicated, just difficult to undo the clips. In the future, I wouldn't hesitate at all to repair! 

I was not sure what part was causing the issue but I followed the video instructions to replace the thermistor and the high limit thermostat as it seemed that these were the most likely culprits in a no heat situation. The video was so clear and easy to follow. I even managed to get the dryer back together in one piece and the repair worked! 

I replaced the heat related parts (thermistor and two thermostats). The parts were cheap enough that I did not troubleshoot and just shotgunned them. The online video was very helpful even though there were slight differences between the dryer in the video and mine. 

Replaced both moisture sensor strips and thoroughly cleaned dryer air passages. 

Replaced the Moisture Sensor Bars. 

Replaced the thermistor assembly and high limit thermostat. Was going to replace moisture sensor bars but didn't realize they traveled in pairs so I only had one on hand. Ordered another and I'll take care of that soon. Required removal of top, control panel, inner and outer front panel and dryer drum. Online videos provided clear and accurate guidance. Was able to clean out a bunch of lint while I was in there. She Who Must Be Obeyed is happy again. 

Replaced the dryer igniter following the online video tutorial. Very straight forward and easy to follow. I would recommend! As I was unsure of which part I would need, I bought one of each as it was a rush job. However, if I had taken the dryer ignitor out first I would have seen that part of it was broken/missing. 

YouTube video from appliance part pros helped me buy the exact parts needed and complete the repair quickly. I can't image how much I saved by not having to call a repair person. Thank you!
