How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP7015078 / 6501KW2002B Washer Rotor Position Sensor Assembly

I watched the video provided by AppliancePartsPros. It looked like a simple fix so I ordered the part on Sunday, it arrived Tuesday. I ran into a problem, I was home alone and I couldn't remove the 17 mm bolt because the washer drum turned with the bolt. I had no one to hold the drum in place while I removed the bolt. I requested a chat and talked with one of the Pros. Thanks to his advice I was able to remove the bolt and finish the job. 

The washer and dryer where in storage for 8 years and just installed again in 2019. The units were made in 2004. Turn on the washer and 5 mins in get an LE code. I called LG support. Then gave me a local authorized service company. The support service person said units are to old to service buy new ones. It would cost too much to fix. So I figured the issue was a sensor that went bad. Some research on internet pointed to Rotor Position Sensor Switch going bad. I overnighted the part and had machine running next day. Fixed this for less than 60 bucks. 

Replaced the rotor position sensor switch, now it is working perfectly. 

Ordered the appropriate "Hall Sensor" part from AppliancePartsPros, and searched internet for tips on replacing. Followed the directions I found there, and it was a VERY EASY fix in less than 1 hour total. Price of the part was fair, it arrived promptly and worked perfectly - I could not be more pleased. SAVED A BUNCH ON A "SERVICE CALL" which is really the name of the game, isn't it? ANYONE with even a modicum of mechanical skill and very simple tools, can do this themselves. 

It was easy to do it, because video helped everything!! 

Replace rotor position sensor switch. 

Rotor position sensor replacement. Although it was very easy to replace the sensor, it was very difficult for me to remove the bolts/screws because they were on extremely tight. This is an older model machine (over 15 yrs) that has never had to have any maintenance until now. But the insides looked brand spanking new! 

When my washing machine had an error code LE I googled LG and LE code. After reading a story about this code and what part I needed I placed the order. It was the part I needed and was able to save money without calling a repairman or just buying a new washing machine. 

Replaced RPS sensor. I watched the video on how to replace it. Very easy to do and I saved a lot of time and money. 

Replaced the Hall effect sensor (motor position sensor) for the second time on this washer. The most difficult part was moving the washing machine to gain access to the rear panel. Four screws and the back was off, one bolt and pull off the rotor, one screw and the wiring harness was loose, six bolts and the stator was off. Pull the plug on the sensor, unclip it from the stator and clip on the replacement. Replace everything and it worked great!
