Lura H Newnan , GA October 25, 2014 "se" error code After disconnecting the power cord and wires multiple times and thinking the microwave was fixed, each time the "SE" error code eventually reappeared. I found this control panel/exterior keypad part. It worked! I purchased this part but reused the original "mother board", all the same wiring, and original metal plate that covers the inside of the keypad that goes under the "mother board". The metal plate pops into the control panel, then attach the mother board with 4 screws. Be careful to slip the :mother board " on the underside of two small tabs on one side. If it's not level and flat, you know you have it sitting on top of these tabs. Then plug the Mother board wires back in to microwave. I took a picture of the wires before disconnecting any so I'd know how to reattach. Next insert the Control Panel into two bottom latches on the microwave and screw in at top. Then insert top filter and 2 screws. Plug in the power cord to the microwave and set the clock. That's it, it was remarkably EASY, quick (once problem diagnosed) and inexpensive and is working like a charm. Apparently moisture from cooking underneath the microwave causes the keypad to malfunction. A design flaw in my opinion. But I'm glad to have it repaired! Karen H Tonkawa , OK May 23, 2015 Appliance: Samsung Microwave SMH9187ST/XAA My samsung vent hood/microwave had the dreaded se (system error) code! I not only found out What? the SE code was, but got the help to fix it myself!! I watched a couple of u-tube's and got the nerve and instructions to try and fix it myself (my husband has had a stroke -- he used to be the fixer of everything!! -- So, I (Special Ed. teacher!!) gave it a try! I took the microwave apart, as instructed, and cleaned it with "duster", then put it back together -- it didn't work, but I hadn't killed it, because it still had the SE read-out! So then, I read a few more help notes and decided to try ordering the part that was supposed to be the "cure"!! In only a couple of days, a package arrived! I took the microwave apart -- by now, I was a pro at that!! Installed the new part, re-assembled everything, and plugged it in!!! It has been working every since!! Thank you so much to everyone who shares their knowledge!! Next time something goes wrong, I'll know where to go!! -- Karen from Oklahoma!! Steve C Glendale , CA July 18, 2014 Some "keys" wouldn't work and when power went out could not set clock thus could not use any function Correct suggestion was that it just need a new control assembly panel. Replacing mine was a little tricky as the custom cabinets surrounding the oven were so deep that they covered the screws above the vent panel that has to come off first. Got an extra pair of hands from daughters boyfriend (yes, they're good for something), and together we were able to replace the control panel without removing all the wires. When I finished I seal the gap below the control panel with black electrical tape, and the gaps everywhere elst with small diameter foam backer rod. I did this as many articles referred to these control panel failures as due to steam and rising grease from the stovetop below getting into and mucking things up. And there was some grease inside of the control assembly when I disassembled it. Hope it works longer this time. Tommie B Madison , TN February 26, 2016 Appliance: Samsung Microwave SMH9187ST/XAA Se error code samsung smh9187st microwave My Samsung smh9187st was displaying the SE error code. I ordered the assembly control panel. It arrived within 48 hours. Installation was very simple. Removed the vent panel from the top of the microwave (remove two screws and slide to the left about half an inch). One screw held the panel in place after the bottom and side tabs were aligned. Unplugged the wiring connectors, swapped the existing board and the metal backing to the new panel, then plugged the wires back in. The entire project took 22 minutes and that included installing two new light bulbs. Alan G Columbus , OH September 07, 2016 Appliance: Samsung Microwave SMH9187ST/XAA The problem was an error code 5 on a samsung microwave oven the error code occurs when the touch pad goes bad The problem was corrected by replacing the touch pad (officially, the assembly control panel). This repair required the removal and replacement of the assembly control panel. By removing a total of two pairs of screws and disconnecting five circuit plugs the entire panel and the underlying circuit board can be removed from the microwave. Next the circuit board must be removed from the assembly control panel by removing four screws. The circuit board is then attached to new assembly control panel, the circuit plugs reconnected, and the rest of the reassembly completed. Total repair time is about 15 minutes.
