How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007373 / WP23748 Retaining Ring

I went to AppliancePartsPros.com and they listed symptoms and the parts needed to make the repairs. The entire process took less than an hour. 

First replaced the drum bearings and belt. Still squealed. Replaced tensioner and drum glides. The tensioner pulley was spinning hard so I believe that was the main problem. Now 10+ year old dryer nice and quiet like new. 

Replaced the spring, retaining ring and the pulley itself. 

Replaced drum support roller and idler pulley shaft. 

Took the dryer apart, removed the drum, and replaced both rollers, put the dryer back together. Dryer heats and is very quiet. 

Replaced retaining ring. I noticed when I was replacing the belt that the retaining ring had a crack in it. So I decided to replace the ring while I had the dryer apart. Works great now nice, quiet. 

I replaced both rollers and their respective axles. An easy repair, but no indications in the packaging to either lubricate or grease the axles. I applied some high-temperature grease to each axle. Biggest hurdle was opening the dryer, as each manufacturer does it differently. 

Gas dryer back drum rollers worn out, one in particular. Using model number, found parts needed & ordered. What a difference in sound dryer makes now--- no longer sounds like tennis shoes in tumbler. Only reason took while to make repair is laundry room is small area. 

Remove old install new. The real story was how inexpensive your parts were and even more how quickly they arrived! Unbelievable! 

Ordered new belt, drum roller supports, and dryer belt tension pulley. Only trouble was getting belt around the dryer belt pulley. Had to tilt dryer up and put a flash light in area so I could get the belt on correctly. Hard to put belt on, when drum blocks the view. Could have used a printed diagram on belt how belt goes around the motor and dryer belt pulley. Was an easy fix.
