How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005965 / WP2180226 Control Bracket

When we followed the online instructions to get into the Control Area, we found a broken piece on the inner panel. Although we were able to glue it as a temporary fix, we ordered a new one through AppliancePartPros.com on Saturday and it was delivered the following Wednesday. Very Reasonable price, exceptional delivery performance and a pretty good video on how to get to the problem part and replace it. 

I first looked for likely causes on the internet. Since I could not hear the microswitch click when I pressed in the dispenser lever, I suspected something with the switch. I removed the bezel from the front of the dispensing unit and noted that the mounts for the switch were broken. I ordered a new housing and also replaced a plastic chute that had also broken. The total repair took about 30 to 45 minutes. The only mistake I made was in not going to AppliancePartsPro's website to watch a video on taking the bezel off first. 

Ordered the appliance from AP, watched their video a couple times more and started the job. and it was done in minutes.so satisfied 

The ice dispenser on my refrigerator hadn't worked pproperly for 2 years. I viewed the videos on your website to find out how to dissassemble the dispenser and figured out what was needed to repair it. Parts worked perfect and the videos are indispensable. Thanks! 

Found how to repair that model on Youtube, including what might be wrong. I then removed that cover piece and looked closely at the parts to be sure what to get. I looked for appliance parts, and found Appliance Parts Pros to have excellent prices, easy to find what I needed with good diagrams, so I ordered them. The job went as anticipated. All steps could be taken standing in front of the fridge. Only a couple of screwdrivers used, easy repair. The parts matched the originals, and I did not even need to consult the instructions again. 

I found out the limit switch holder for the icemaker push buttons broken. After swap the new parts, it works perfectly as it is supposed to. 

Purchased the new bracket and watched a YouTube video. 

Replaced the bracket inside the door that holds ice maker switches. 

Completely replaced the bracket. 

I watched the Video and removed/replaced the broken bracket in ~8 min. worked perfectly!
