How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6014843 / WPW10074580 Washer Agitator Inner Cap

I ordered all parts of the agitator top, matchup was exactly the same and replaced them quickly. 

There was a problem removing the bolt which holds the agitator assembly! Whirlpool in its infinite wisdom chose to use a common carbon bolt in a wet environment! Subsequently the bold head was rusted to the point where a socket would not bite. Initially I melted the agitator assembly to get at the bolt. This was a mistake as it destroyed both the top and the bottom assembly. At that point I manage with a 1/4x10 inch drill bit to drill the head off the bolt, which is the approach I should’ve taken initially, and was able to remove the agitator. From then on it was a piece a cake from the video. The videos are very well done and comprehensive. I wouldn’t hesitate to do this repair again. Thanks 

Removed fabric softener bowl from Agitator. Used a 7/16" socket with extension to remove bolt. Removed Agitator from washing machine. Separated Agitator assembly. Replaced Agitator Dogs. Reassembled Agitator assembly. Reinstalled Agitator in washing machine. Replaced fabric softener Bowl. Just exactly like Appliance Parts Pros video. Best online resource for appliance repair... Period. Had I not watched the video I would not have known how to separate Agitator assembly to get to Agitator Dogs. Washing machine was failing because of a set of parts that cost $2.79... Thank You Appliance Parts Pros ! 

Followed the instructions to remove covers to machine. Found water a the back of the washer at the floor where the water valve/vacuum break is located. Ordered parts, replaced the parts and no water leak. The KitchenAid Washer and Dryer is 28 yeasrs old. Since the parts and instruction videos are easy to followed I ordered extra parts to rebuild the pair. Will be placing orders for more parts to have extra parts as needed, and to repair my son/daugher-in-law washer and dryer as well. Appliancepartspros have helped me tremendously. Richard Battles 

I was given a used washer in great shape, but a good cleaning didn't remove a funky smell. It turned out to be built up sludge in the fabric softener dispenser after years of use by the previous owners. The replacement was very affordable and clicked right in! Smell is gone and the dispenser works great!

Through googling my problem (I am the least handy person on the face of the planet) with the agitator, I got to appliance parts Pro website and watched a couple videos to see if that video was related to my problem. And, as usual, it was. I ordered the parts, they arrived two days later, and in about 15min my washing machine was back up and running properly. 

Followed the very clear and well produced tutorial video and then ordered the replacement parts through APP. 

Replaced agitator dogs. ordered short agitator assembly . wrong one. used dogs out of it to make repair. Fixed it just fine, Replaced inner cap, old o-ring not in good shape. . 

Applied agitator dogs , removed and replaced the agitator bolt, and that was it. I’m glad you guys had the parts. Thanks!
