How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3094459 / 285565 Complete Agitator Assembly

I ordered what I thought was the correct agitator, however due to an address issue Appliance Parts Pro called me. Not only did the address issue get resolved, the correct agitator was ordered. It arrived in three days, I installed it and delivered the like new used washer to my daughter. 

There was a problem removing the bolt which holds the agitator assembly! Whirlpool in its infinite wisdom chose to use a common carbon bolt in a wet environment! Subsequently the bold head was rusted to the point where a socket would not bite. Initially I melted the agitator assembly to get at the bolt. This was a mistake as it destroyed both the top and the bottom assembly. At that point I manage with a 1/4x10 inch drill bit to drill the head off the bolt, which is the approach I should’ve taken initially, and was able to remove the agitator. From then on it was a piece a cake from the video. The videos are very well done and comprehensive. I wouldn’t hesitate to do this repair again. Thanks 

I needed to replace the agitator on our whirlpool washing machine and I found your website so easy to use. 

All I really needed were the dogs, but this was a used washer, and apparently someone "fixed" it incorrectly. There was no way to separate the top from the bottom. I ended up ordering the entire assembly rather than keep fighting with it. As soon as the box arrived, I was able to put the assembly in the washer, screw it in place, add the cap and top, and start a load. Very easy assembly. 

Replaced agitator 

After receiving the part I followed the directions from the short video that Parts Pros provided and it was simple. 

Replacement 

The spine on the lower part of the agitator were stripped smooth. I replaced the entire assembly and it fixed the issue 

All the parts were included including gaskets. easy to assemble. popped right on...quick tightening of the bolt and GOOD TO GO! 

Swapped agitator out with new one
