How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3885081 / 8201786 Compressor Starting Device Kit

Extremely easy to swap out the old relay for the new. 

Order recommended part kit and installed the appropriate part 

Got the compressor starting kit from appliance part pros.com. ( luckily i got the exactly parts) plug it in and it runs like brand new now. Saved $1500 little ones on $68.00 parts. We need a little knowledge of HVAC or help from friend to figure out which part could be bad before ordering. 

Replaced compressor starter relay/overload. 

The water valve was leaking and caused the failure. I had previously removed the failed ice maker before the new one arrived. Before lnstalling the new one, the water valve problem had to be resolved. The valve was removed ,the filter in the valve was checked, the valve was fitted with a piece of quater inch plastic tubing. I next powered up each valve blew them out .I cycled the ice maker valve to make sure it wasn't hanging up and that it opened and closed completely. I was almost sure the valve problem was resolved, the valve was reinstalled. It took about 10 minutes to install the ice maker. Turned on water first then plugged in the refrig. It was making ice in 30 min, no problems. 

For starters, nobody wants to come home after a long day at work to find their freezer isn't working and obviously hadn't for a day or 2. After the immediate shock and some preliminary cleaning, I was able to identify a bad compressor starter and within 20 minutes on your website was able to find the correct part, order it and get confirmation of over night delivery. The part was a one for one swap and within 2 hours I had ice again and the freezer back to normal. Thanks for the parts and your 24/7 customer service. For a novice this would be an easy fix with all parts needed and step by step instructions. I'm telling all my friends, if they need any appliance parts, to visit your website or call your number! 

Replaced the starting circuit box and put on new run capacitor at the same time, though the run cap was not the original problem,but for the small cost, I figured I should just "shotgun" it and replace that too while I had things apart. 

Replaced starter/overload switch and it fixed the problem. 

I ordered a part from appliancepartspros.com. When I was having issues I called them and was able to talk to a repairman who helped me fix it by phone.
