Eileen D Alexandria , VA April 17, 2016 Refrig and freezer not cooling Followed steps on website, checked fans, cleaned coils, unplugged and restarted-no luck. Ordered Compressor starting device kit, watched video, installed part. It was easy, it worked and I will never call a repair guy again. This site is the only way to go. Quicker than waiting for a repair person and cheaper too. Hardest part was pulling out the refrigerator. Read More... Charles A East Moline , IL March 19, 2016 Appliance: KitchenAid Refrigerator KSRA22ILSS01 Refrigerator not cooling After a little research on the web checked the relay like it recommend and sure enough the relay rattled. I ordered the part and watched your video (very good video by the way). The part arrived 2 days later. I followed the instructions to replace the relay and was done in no time. The repair was easy, I just removed the back cover and the wires from the relay (took a picture with my phone before removing the wires and relay so I would have a reference point) I the removed the relay and found the correct replacement by getting the numbers off the Compressor. I put everything back together and plugged the refrigerator back in and turned it on and in no time it was cooling. Thanks Read More... Dan K Charles Town , WV January 23, 2016 Appliance: KitchenAid Refrigerator KSRB25FKSS14 Compressor stopped I found what I thought would be the problem by watching a appliancepartspro DYI YouTube on replacing the compressor starter kit. The replacement parts arrived within a couple of days using standard shipping. Although the parts and replace my didn't match the steps in the video (mine was even easier), the replacement was easy and relatively quick - 15 minutes. While the video was for an older model/brand, it gave me the confidence to try the replacement myself and save at least $125 - $150 for a repair call. Thanks appliancepartspro!!! Read More... Joe G Sandy Springs , GA January 12, 2016 Totally warm fridge and freezer Came home to find the fridge and freezer had totally warmed up to room temp. I first suspected the compressor had gone bad but a quick continuity check showed it was likely fine. Also, it was very warm, almost hot, to the touch. The fan worked fine too.I then found several vids elsewhere showing how to test for this relay/compressor starter. Taking it off the compressor first, when you shake it, if you hear rattling inside, it's shot. That was indeed the case for me. I checked continuity across all three terminals and sure enough they all showed an open circuit. I thought this part would be an identical OEM drop-in, meaning the part would be exactly the same. For my circa 2012 KitchenAid Superba, it wasn't. I couldn't use the big white "all in one" part, the one with the funny plastic point sticking out the back. I had to install the parts according to type 2, or whatever they called it ("discreet", I think). I had to install the two smaller parts separately (relay and overload, I believe). Not a big deal, the repair video associated with the part walks you through it easily enough, it's just that I expected a total drop in replacement. Apparently the compressor mfr (Embarco) has changed things up a bit in the years since. Alll in all still an easy fix. Read More...
